Welcome to the Professional Learning Areas Department

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Professional Learning Department at Bunyore Teachers Training College. As the Head of Department, I am honored to work alongside a dedicated team committed to nurturing the professional identity, ethics, and pedagogical competence of future educators.

Professional Learning is at the heart of teacher education. It focuses on preparing trainee teachers not only to teach, but to lead, mentor, reflect, and grow continuously in their practice. Our department plays a central role in delivering foundational courses such as Educational Psychology, Curriculum Studies, Instructional Methods, Educational Communication and Technology, and Assessment, among others — all designed in alignment with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and national education priorities.

Through coursework, micro-teaching, teaching practice, and reflective inquiry, we strive to develop well-rounded, ethical, and dynamic educators who are ready to meet the evolving needs of Kenyan classrooms and society at large.
